01 The project

More than a set of profile pictures

The design challenge was to make three breed families and modular traits read as one world—and make the resulting archive navigable beyond its original NFT format.

Poco Pups was conceived as a 10,000-character collection built from three breeds, modular traits and a shared story. The preserved production archive contains 9,999 numbered image and metadata pairs, running from #1 through #9999.

The original collection is archived. The characters, finished artwork and interactive world remain intact while the property’s next chapter is still being considered.

02 Character system

Three breeds, one visual language

Each breed needed a recognizable silhouette before costumes, expressions and accessories were added. The result holds together as one world without making every character feel interchangeable.

03 Designing at collection scale

Variation had to feel authored

The system combined backgrounds, expressions, clothing, headwear, masks and breed-specific details. Layering rules created breadth, while the underlying drawing style kept the collection recognizable.

The montage is a sample from the preserved production set. It shows range without turning the case study into a claim about sales, ownership or market performance.

04 Identity and presentation

The world needed its own visual voice

The identity combined a defiant hand-painted wordmark with the laser-eyed Chihuahua insignia. Historical web and campaign compositions extended that energy into the original launch presentation. They are shown here as design artifacts, not as a current offer.

05 Interactive world

The collection became something people could explore

The current archive makes the artwork searchable and playable. Visitors can filter the pack, inspect traits, build a character, read case-file lore and open a set of small browser games.

06 What the project shows

A different medium, the same collection thinking

Poco Pups connects character design, identity, production rules, metadata, search, interface design, storytelling and lightweight games. That range is the point: the work changes medium, but it still depends on a coherent visual system.

A strong character world needs rules sturdy enough to create thousands of variations and distinct enough to make each one worth looking at.
